The Goal of the Maternal Child Health Program
To support pregnant women and families with infants and young children who live on our member First Nations to reach their fullest developmental and lifetime potential.
To decrease teen pregnancy by creating awareness and providing youth the knowledge they need to make healthy reproductive choices.
What Services are Available for You and Your Child?
- Home visiting
- Support before and after child-birth
- Support to families with infants and children 0-6 years of age
- Coordination of specialized services
- Community Education
- Parenting groups
- Parenting strategies
- Groups for youth about Reproductive Health
- Information for parents about speaking to youth about healthy reproductive choices
The Maternal Child Health Coordinator Can:
- Provide services in your home
- Provide resources to parents on parenting
- Arrange for a Partner in Parenting to visit you regularly
- Assist you in accessing services that meet your family’s needs
- Offer parenting groups locally to meet community needs
Who Qualifies for the Program?
Pregnant women and families with infants and young children ages 0-6 years of age.
How Do I Sign Up?
Call Mnaamodzawin Health Services Maternal Child Health Coordinator or your visiting Community Health Nurse at 368-2182.
Mnaamodzawin Health Services provide services to five (5) member First Nation communities:
- Aundeck Omni Kaning
- Sheguiandah First Nation
- Sheshegwaning First Nation
- Whitefish River First Nation
- Zhiibaahaasing First Nation
