Personal Support Worker – Casual or Part Time

The Personal Support Worker is responsible for providing care that contributes to the quality of life of individuals who live at home by promoting their independence; dignity; social; emotional and physical well-being; mobility; personal appearance; comfort and safety so that they may remain and participate within their community.

The successful applicant must be willing to work flexible hours (possible evenings and/or weekends) and may provide services to all five First Nation communities.

(Aundeck Omni Kaning, Sheguiandah, Sheshegwaning, Whitefish River and Zhiibaahaasing)


1. Provide personal support services based on the client personal care or home management needs.

2. Provide assistance to the Long-Term Care Program with the provision of regular Diners’ Club and Meals On Wheels program, Adult Day programming and may assist/provide generic transportation services for own client caseload; friendly visits and social safety.

3. Provide respite services working flexible hours.

4. Works collaboratively with health care providers in providing holistic care that focuses on achieving and maintaining optimal health.

5. Submission of timely required documentation based on scheduled basis to immediate supervisor.

6. May assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.


  • Knowledgeable and respectful of Anishinaabe customs, culture and language

  • A Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized college with a minimum of (2) years community work experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Current and Clear CPIC

  • Valid ‘G’ driver’s license and a vehicle.

  • Anishinaabemowin is a strong asset.

  • Salary range based on qualifications and approved salary grid.

    Health Promotion Support Worker

    Summer Student Position

    Summer student is to provide assistance to Mnaamodzawin Health Services programs in areas of health prevention and promotion. Summer activities will be in our First Nation community members of Aundeck Omni Kaning, Whitefish River, Sheguiandah, Sheshegwaning, and Zhiibaahaasing. Objectives:

    Assist programs in providing community awareness activities focusing on healthy children, youth, Elders and families

  • Ability and willingness to work with children and Elders

  • Assist in providing awareness and education activities for chronic disease and injury prevention

  • Assist programs in providing workshops on various topics ie. Physical activity, diabetes education, alcohol and drug awareness, smoking cessation, family planning, parenting, etc.

  • Actively participate and contribute to the success of workshops

  • Assist and provide support to Diabetes Educator, Healthy Babies & Healthy Children, Community Health and Long-Term Care Programs

  • Provide an evaluation at completion of placement


  • Student must be enrolled in post-secondary institution and provide proof of sponsorship and must be returning to school in September 2019

  • Must be a member of one of our 5 First Nation member communities

  • Literate in computer programs ex. Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook,

  • Possess some related work experience

  • Ability to work independently and be an excellent team player

  • Ability to work with the public and demonstrate excellent communication skills

  • Sensitivity to aims and objectives of Community Health

  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, language and traditions an asset

  • Finance Assistant - Permanent Full Time


    The Finance Assistant is responsible for assisting to maintain accurate and up to date information on financial records (manual and automated) related to all financial affairs of Mnaamodzawin Health Services and offers ongoing administrative support of the center directly accountable to the Finance Manager and/or Executive Director.


    The Finance Assistant will report to the Finance Manager and be responsible for:

    • Working in a manner that preserves confidentiality and seeks to minimize risk.

    • Contributing to the Centre’s financial affairs, office support systems and communication.

    • Assist with Accounts Payable in accordance with established policies, procedures and appropriate accounting practices

    • Assist with Accounts Receivable, quarterly photocopying of invoices

    • Assist with staff timesheet credit balances in Excel in preparation of transfer to automated timekeeping system

    • May provide backup to main reception

    • Assist with activities or special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager and/or Executive Director

    • May assist with stats collection in preparation of reports to funders

    • May take cheques out to cheque signors for signatures and deposits as required

    • Assist with audit preparation

    Qualifications and Work Experience:

    • Knowledgeable and respectful of Anishnaabe customs, culture, and language

    • Community College certificate in bookkeeping and basic accounting or equivalent training.

    • Demonstrated strong user level familiarity with word processing, accounting, spreadsheets and database software.

    • Analytical and demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and little supervision.

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with legible handwriting.
